Aspire Thrive supports Universities and their students' study success and attainment through the provision of study skills, wellbeing and mental health resources. The programme reflects the whole university approach to mental wellbeing currently in development by Universities UK, particularly supporting communities of learning and the alignment of learning analytics to student wellbeing.
Via the Aspire Thrive programme:
- Resources can be provided digitally so that they are available both online and offline to students 24/7 and students can access advice, tips and guides wherever they are studying. Through this partnership, full training is available for staff and students upon request and we will deliver year round support on accessing and using these resources.
- We will provide regular, detailed and anonymous analytics for the University, so that you can view Aspire Thrive amongst your other student support initiatives. Data can be integrated with SolutionPath, Civitas, Qlikview and other analytics platforms.

Be Well, Learn Well by Gareth Hughes
Exploring the different dimensions of student wellbeing - physical, psychological, social and academic - this book allows students to take control of their university experience, challenge harmful or unhelpful narratives and take simple, practical steps to improve both their learning and wellbeing.
Readers will understand the connection between wellbeing and academic performance, consider the impact of factors such as diet, exercise, hydration, sleep and sunlight upon learning and learn how to better deal with those aspects of university life which typically are a source of stress or anxiety, including procrastination, lack of motivation, exams, presentations, group work, and thinking about life after university.

About Gareth Hughes:
Gareth Hughes is a Psychotherapist at the University of Derby. He was responsible for developing Derby’s sector-leading Psychoeducation Programme, which delivers workshops into every undergraduate programme on improving wellbeing and learning. He also delivers national training to academics, therapists and school teachers on anxiety and learning.Gareth is recognised nationally as a spokesperson on the mental health, wellbeing and learning of university students and has been quoted extensively in the national press discussing student transition, academic anxiety, student mental health and the role of universities in supporting student wellbeing. Gareth has recently been appointed by Student Minds to lead to the development of the new University Mental Health Charter, which was announced by the Universities Minister in June 2018 and is supported by the Office for Students, NUS and UUK.
